Wow this week was wonderful!!! Ha-ha we may have gotten lost once or twice... or three times but hey it’s my first week here and Sister Miller only has a month... ha-ha but we managed to get around nevertheless! :)
Okay so yeah this area is another great area! With excited members willing to help and pumped to do missionary work!! We visited a ton of references from members!! They all went super great!! Teaching with Sister Miller makes me remember how hard it was for me at the beginning of my mission to feel comfortable teaching people and learning the language! I’m doing everything I can to make her feel more comfortable and to make this transition to missionary life as easy as possible for her! We do a lot of practices and A TON of contacting in the street to help her gain more confidence and feel more comfortable!! She’s an amazing missionary!!
This week we visited a couple who has been receiving visits from the missionaries for almost 7 months now, and they’re not progressing, we talked with them one night and they were pretty hard hearted, the next few days Sister Miller and I prayed for them to have softer hearts and to be more open. We returned Saturday night and started talking. That’s when the man said he would be baptized but he’s not sure about the Book of Mormon, and he started asking a ton of questions, the crazy hard questions. I remember just praying in my heart to be able to answer them in a way that would help him understand. And I was given exactly what I needed to say in that moment for all his questions and doubts. Then he said he doesn’t believe it because it’s just parts of the Bible and a few more words from Joseph Smith. I told him that Joseph Smith didn’t write the Book of Mormon at all, and began explaining about the Book of Mormon in a way that I never have before.
After I explained it all he had a different look on his face... he said he didn’t know all that about the Book of Mormon and asked if we could come back next week to talk some more. I don’t know what will happen in the future with them but it really was a crazy experience. I wasn’t speaking the things I was saying, it was the spirit, I was given exactly what I needed to say exactly in the moment I needed it!
It just goes to show you that Heavenly Father truly wants to help us!! When we are worthy and ask him in faith with real intent he will give us what we need in the moment we need it! That’s a promise!
Scripture of the week!
TRANSLATION:
1 Nephi 15:11 – ‘Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said?—If ye will not harden your hearts, and ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you.’
