Hello my family!!
Well it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas here in Manaus!! Which is super fun! Lights on all the houses! Singing Christmas hymns at church!! Its super fun!!
This week we got to do some more splits with the sisters!! I went out with Sister Borges first! We worked in my old area Colina do Aleixo! Which was super fun because I got to visit old members and investigators and converts that I got to know when I was serving there!!! Super fun! We got to contact a ton of referrals from a youth activity! The youth went out two by two teaching mini lessons to everyone in the street and asking if they’d accept the messages from the missionaries! So we followed up with those that said yes! And it went super well! We were able to teach and mark baptism dates with a ton of them!! Just goes to show you how we missionaries have more success when the members help us out!!
The next day I got to go out with Sister Camilo and work in her area. it was cool too because when I was new on the mission I did splits in this area and got to know some of the members, so it was fun to see them again! Ha-ha they were all surprised at my Portuguese and couldn’t believe that I was going home in April!! We taught a few of their investigators and then went to a Ward Family Night! Where everyone from the ward met in the house of a member and had a family night with games and food and a message! Super cool!! There were a ton of nonmembers there too that we marked days to visit them!! Super awesome!!
My ward that I’m working in is doing great!! We have a church building right in the middle of the town... but in in reform... for a year and a half now!! And so we have to walk almost an hour to the other building... so that’s a difficulty that our ward has... a lot of less actives because of this... but it’s amazing to see all the members that continue to go and walk far to church every Sunday! There’s a man in our ward who is very old. His wife never got baptized and you can tell that that’s hard for him, his daughter was baptized but now is part of another religion, and he lives super far from the church building, but nevertheless, he is there EVERY Sunday! Such a great example and a strong testimony that despite the difficulties we have to keep the commandments! We don’t have any excuse, we know what’s right so we have to continue doing that!
I know this church is true! I love this time of year that we have to remember our Savior’s birth!! You probably have all seen this video already! But try checking it out in Portuguese here!
